Reviewed 6 October 2026. This update replaces our earlier 2025 trends overview. Use current account data and product economics instead of treating a universal CPC or ACoS figure as a target.
Understand the Current Advertising Options
Choose advertising around the product, audience and business objective. Amazon’s former Sponsored Display offering is now described as display ads. Confirm account and marketplace eligibility before planning a campaign.
Set Benchmarks From Your Own Economics
Estimate the contribution left after product cost, fulfillment, marketplace fees, discounts and expected returns. Illustrative example: a $40 sale with $12 contribution before advertising has a simplified break-even ACoS of 30%. Spending $8 per order leaves $4 before fixed overhead. These are example inputs, not industry averages.
Make the Mobile Product Page Clear
Check image readability, product dimensions, variation differences and the path from an ad to the product page. Test on a phone. Do not assume that more traffic will solve an information gap or a weak offer.
Plan Seasonal Campaigns Around Inventory
Agree promotion dates, stock coverage and budget limits before increasing demand. Compare results with an appropriate baseline and separate the effects of discounts, availability and advertising. Preserve a record of changes.
Use DSP When the Objective and Measurement Fit
Assess audience strategy, creative readiness, measurement and funding before expanding into programmatic advertising. Do not compare a new-audience campaign with branded search only on short-term attributed return. See our DSP readiness checklist.
Check the Amazon Ads Agent Rollout
Amazon announced Amazon Ads Agent on 29 September 2026. Its announcement distinguishes US capabilities available now from features rolling out over the coming months. Confirm what your account supports before designing an operating process around it.
Look Beyond Attributed Revenue
Review total sales, advertising cost, contribution, inventory and new-customer measures where available. Explain attribution windows before comparing reports. Attributed sales are not automatically incremental sales.
Build a Practical Monthly Action Plan
- Identify products that can support more spend at the required margin.
- Separate branded demand capture from discovery tests.
- Set a spending limit and decision date for each test.
- Fix content and stock constraints before scaling.
- Assign an owner to every agreed action.
Connect Campaign Decisions With Profit
Use PPC management, DSP support and the campaign budget calculator to build a plan around your inputs. Results depend on the offer, competition, execution and market conditions.
